We are so exited to finally start our OPUS 4 World Music Camp! It was great to see some old faces and lots of new ones! Today was a busy first day that began with a fun icebreaker, followed by rainstick making in art class, and finally, elective class selections. The kids had the choice of choosing from a wide variety of classes that include Music Technology, Film Scores, Musical Theater, Chamber Music & Conducting, Instrument Building, and Beginning Guitar. To beat the heat, the kids indulged in a delicious and colorful fresh fruit salad and some yummy animal crackers all while learning about Wintergatan, a musician that created a musical instrument out of 2000 marbles, in our daily Musician of the Day presentations. At the end of the day, we wrapped up camp with an amazing Middle Eastern performance by Gabe Lavin and the Near East Music Ensemble from UCLA.
We had a such wonderful time sharing our love of music with these wonderful musicians and we can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!
